Domik Moll: I am happy to be in Sarajevo

Thank you very much, it's a very long way to the stage. And a very impressive audience. I'm very happy to be here, said Moll

The film CASE 137 by Dominik Moll was screened at the Coca-Cola Open Air Cinema as part of the Open Air Programme of the 31st Sarajevo Film Festival. Before the screening, director Domink Moll greeted the audience.

"Thank you very much, it's a very long way to the stage. And a very impressive audience. I'm very happy to be here. This is actually the third place the film has been shown. It premiered in May in Cannes, then at another film festival in France and this is the third screening, first outside France. I'm very happy to be in Sarajevo. I will say a few words about the Yellow Vest Movement, in case anyone is not familiar with it. The film takes place in late 2018 and early 2019, the Yellow Vest Movement protested against the increase in living costs, the new taxation system and the reduction of living standards. This is the context of the film. One of the main characters investigates the case of a young man who was injured during a demonstration on the Champs-Élysées, near Le Palais de l'Élysée where the President of the Republic of France is located. The story is based on real events.

Dominik Moll studied film at the City College of New York and at IDHEC in Paris, where he met his long-time collaborator Gilles Marchand. They have co-written the screenplays for most of their independently directed films. In 1994, Moll directed his first feature-length film INTIMITÉ. His second, WITH A FRIEND LIKE HARRY, was screened in competition at the Festival de Cannes in 2000 and won four César Awards. In his following films, Moll continued to explore genre, while integrating more and more social themes. In 2023, The NIGHT OF THE 12TH won seven Césars and was praised by critics and audiences alike. His most recent film, CASE 137, was presented in competition at Cannes in 2025.
